Complying with New Leave Legislation: Best Practices for Oregon Employers

DATE: May 29, 2024
TIME: 10:00a.m. – 11:00a.m. PST | 30 Days of On-Demand Access to Follow

Oregon employers are responsible for ensuring that their leave tracking systems properly account for an employee’s leave taken under each (or any combination) of potentially applicable laws, including Paid Leave Oregon, the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA), or the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). However, each of these three laws differ in multiple respects, which often complicates the coordination of leave. Adding to the complexity, effective July 1, recent legislation will impact current practices relating to concurrency, qualifying reasons for leave, and potential protected leave entitlements. To assist employers in navigating these upcoming changes, Stacie Damazo will lead employers in a discussion of leave administration best practices.

Key learning objectives will include the following:

  • Understanding SB 1515A and the changes to qualifying reasons for leave under OFLA and Paid Leave Oregon
  • Understanding the amended OFLA regulations (including potential developments on the horizon)
  • Preparing leave administration and tracking systems for upcoming changes
  • Evaluating whether to update leave policies in light of recent and upcoming changes

$50 per person. Designed for HR professionals, business owners, and general counsel. This seminar is eligible for one OSB CLE credit or one self-reported HRCI/SHRM credit. If you are unable to attend at the specified date and time, you may still register to receive a recording link in lieu of attending the live program.
