Mental Health Support and Response by Canopy

Canopy’s proprietary certification program helps participants support employee mental health, recognize and respond to crisis. Participants will cover common mental health conditions, how these present in the workplace, and how to support an individual experiencing mental health crisis. You’ll learn how to create a safer work environment, how to care for yourself when supporting others, and resources available. This one-day virtual course will include a certification of completion and course takeaways.



$250 per participant 


Trainer Bio: Nicholas Kessler

Nicholas is originally from Traverse City, Michigan, and has called Portland, OR home since 2005. He earned a degree from Kalamazoo College, where he focused on social and educational theatre for community impact. Nicholas has been a teacher and trainer for over 20 years, working with employees, executives, and private students. On topics as varied as empathy practices to rocket science, Nicholas has worked with groups sized 4 to 400, preschoolers to Ph.D.s. Nicholas has been working in the communication and training field since 2003, coast-to-coast, and at Canopy since 2022. At ease in front of a crowd, Nicholas specializes in compassionate de-escalation, team collaboration, presentation skills, and maximizing productivity in-the-moment. Previous trainees/students describe Nicholas’ style as, “Engaging, supportive, and professionally entertaining.”
