The Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) requires employers to go through an interactive process to identify reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities. However, job-related issues related to mental health raises some of the trickiest problems with ADA compliance. When is stress considered a disability? At what point does an employee absence for a “mental health day” require you to engage in an interactive process with an employee? Should these absences be classified as protected leave under state and federal medical leave laws? Barran Liebman attorney, Sean Ray, will present on the intersection of mental health, the ADA, and leave laws. Day 2 Sessions - May 4, 2022

PRESENTERS: Cindy Free & Heather Wall, HR Annie

Why do leaders oftentimes shy away from compensation conversations? Because it’s not easy to build out a structure that makes sense. Because the structure has been built out over time and lost intention. Because it’s an overwhelming task! Shy away no more! In this session, we will take a peek behind the curtain of your current compensation structure (if it exists), and show you, in real-time with real examples, how to build a compensation structure that will sustain your company. During the session, you will come to understand that things are not as complicated or time-consuming as you think and that having a structure in place will allow you much more efficiency (and compliance!) for the future. Plus, we will also show you the difference between equity and internal equity! You’ll breathe a sigh of relief after this session, and we will almost promise you’ll think compensation structures are fun!
